 | POLONEUM could not remain indifferent in view of the explosion of the achievements of science and technology, and has decided to formalise this program, after all, it was informally in use here since the very beginning. Without having taken some distance and a fresh look at the achievements of the entire science and human culture today, one cannot make the right decisions in any project for tomorrow. Nicola Tesla had to do just that, and it took him considerable time and effort, but today everyone agrees that it was worth it, and the attained effect is proportional to greatness of this genius and his vision.

 | If there is something nearest to POLONEUM's heart, this program is on the shortlist. It has been many years of effort against all odds to organise a seminar "GM+Architecture", Poddebice 2001, Poland. This historic event gave way to establishing numerous biotechnology enterprises worldwide, which are in a forefront of the emerging new kind of industry, headed by the TIIT Technology Institute, realising projects outlined in the attachments to the POLONEUM PROPOSAL 2000. A truly exciting chapter of our activity.

 | This program has never been a subject of a separate Development Council debate, as it was interwoven with all other programs supportive of technology. Nevertheless, because of the increasing involvement of POLONEUM in cooperation with scientific institutions and research centers, and especially thanks to close cooperation with the TIIT Technology Institute, Development Council needs to have a good understanding of the current situation of the environment and adopted a special resolution, that the role of this program will be preparing a source database and providing POLONEUM with guidelines developed based on them.

 | From the beginning POLONEUM housing program was a pivotal part of its development since the majority of members had such a need at the time. POLONEUM then really stood up to the challenge and organised the first Polish community housing cooperative in Adelaide, ARKADIA. After opening an office in the Dom Polski Centre an idea arose to build a cooperative housing complex in a joint venture with the Polish Community Credit Union and the state community housing agency, SACHA.

 | Very well-developed system of community finance encouraged the creation of POLONEUM's own financial institutions. Plan headed in two directions - the first was a proposal to bring into existence a community credit union, which could also handle the currency exchange between Antipodes and Europe, and the second direction of the plan was the POLONEUM FUND, to financialy secure needs of an aging part of the community. For many years, the Development Council endured the tedious procedures, to no avail though and POLONEUM had to postpone the plans for the time being.

 | At the time, housing solarisation was en vogue and it seemed that implementation of the emerging solar technology will be progressing as dynamically. supplies allow. This optimism proved to be counterproductive in terms of running solarised developments, as the political situation started unfolding in directions that were not consistent with the solarisation's need. In the effect of this program POLONEUM has created its own and proudly Australia's first course of the 'Housing Solarisation' for professionals, now in the process of accreditation. It may not exactly be a success, but the work was not in vain, as the time of solarisation never ceases to be actual, as long as the sun shines in the sky.

 | Work For The Dole is a program of the Federal Government, chiefly addressed to young people remaining unemployed for a long time, but not limited to this only. With the program, POLONEUM initially proceeded formally under the supervision of the Government designated specialised agency and, in later years, this action was pursued independently under the license from CENTRELINK to this day with great success. POLONEUM offered a long-term unemployed, training and courses in fields of housing solarisation, information technology (IT) and the overseas cultural exchange, alternatively turning into full-time employment.

 | The "Solar Cities" program was announced by the Federal Goverrnment and it overlapped in time with our Housing Solarisation program, which was good and shows just how intense was then the entrance of new solar technologies in life. Of course, POLONEUM joined the competition to obtain funding for the solarisation projects, however the competition was big and we were too fresh in this market. But we really had in mind gaining experience and to use our existing capacity of R&D, which could not have been left unproductive. The fruit of involvement in this program was to meet the luminaries of the solar industry and benefit from their experience.

 | Big part of POLONEUM life have been its Trade Delagations. They are overseas missions profiled to be fitting the EMDG format. EMDG is a Federal Government Export Grant scheme designed to be of assistance for organisations who develop their products or services for export. Thanks to this experience POLONEUM managed to organise its first overseas business and trade delegation to Central Europe, in June 2001. It turned out to be an exceptionally successful enterprise, delivering, among others, the world's first seminar on implementation of genetic engineering (GM technology) in architecture, construction and affiliated industries, held in Poddebice ('a town under oaks'), Poland.

 | POLONEUM's educational activities have been registered by special resolution of the Development Council in July 2006 as POLONEUM Educational Advancement Charitable Entity Inc. (POLONEUM EDUCATIONAL ACE Inc. is sometimes used for short), to promote advancement of education and encourage the general community to responsibly implement benefits of the general scientific and technological progress in their everyday lives. At the time, POLONEUM EDUCATIONAL ACE's role was seen as that of an advisory body to members, in regard of sources of quality information. Later on, it also practically contributed to kick-start many valuable projects. |

 | 'Opal Heart Club' was POLONEUM's response to a need signaled by smaller community groups who demanded technical and scientific information to be delivered in a form of less formal meetings. Development Council decided to run periodical functions in certain clubs. They were named "Nights at the Fireplace" and, by their nature, have become an excellent occasion for public to meet luminaries of science and technology performing live and for the lecturers to have a spontaneous but non-the-less valuable feedback from communication with a layman audience on their creative work. |
